How To Use Kartra Forms In WordPress

Here are the 5 steps to using Kartra Forms in WordPress:

  1. Create Form 
  2. Design Form
  3. Take The Javascript Code
  4. Paste Into Elementor
  5. Configure Visibility Settings

And, then Publish!

Step 1: Create Form 

Firstly, you will want to create your form in Kartra.

To do this, just head over to “My forms”

Then click the green “+” symbol (bottom right-hand corner)

Now, enter the name and other basic details about your form (form fields, confirmation etc.)

However, when you are on the “design form” step, select “I will embed form on 3rd party page” as shown in the image below.

Step 2: Design The Form

Now, click “launch the builder” to design your form.

Once you have designed your form, configure the rest of the settings until you are on the “finish settings” step. 

Step 3: Take The Javascript Code

Here you will want to take the Javascript code and copy it.

You can take the HTML, but it won’t have any styling, so I suggest taking the Javascript. 

Step 4: Take The Code and Paste Into Elementor

Now, go to Elementor and go to “Templates” and select Popups, as shown in the image below. 

Then click “Create new”.

Once you are on the screen to select templates, just click the cross in the top right hand corner. 

Now, search for “HTML” in the widgets and drag it onto your pop up (don’t worry, it reads Javascript too).

Both of these HTML options do the same thing. 

Once you have pasted it, click publish and then go to the next step.

Step 5: Configure Visibility Settings

Now, you just need to configure your visibility settings (where your form is shown).

Select the categories, posts, or wherever you want your form to be shown. 

You can also configure the triggers of when your form should be shown (i.e on Click, % scrolled, etc.) 

Publish! 

Once you have completed all the previous steps, click Publish and you should be good to go.

If you want to test to see if your pop up is working correctly, head over to the selected part of your website in a new incognito tab (or private search, where you are not logged in), then see if the form appears on your trigger.

Teachable comes with a lot of features to help your students learn.

Your students can always give you feedback helping you create a better membership

With Teachable, you can also give your students Certificates, which shows that they have completed your course.

You can also quiz your students which is pretty cool and can be useful.

Analytics

Teachable also has some great reporting tools which allow you to see your revenue and signups over a specific period of time. 

Another thing that you can monitor is your course completion rates to see where you can improve.

Finally, Teachable also comes with marketing tools to help you sell your course.

This includes:

Of course, it’s not quite as advanced as all the features that Kartra has to offer, but these marketing tools are still great.

Kartra agency is a feature that allows you to manage your client’s account while also selling seperate Kartra accounts, but getting them at a discounted price.

Other than on the starter plan, this feature is included in all plans too. 

What I also like about Kartra is that other than on the starter plan, they don’t limit you with Bandwidth or emails, like they used to. 

The only limit is contacts which is pretty standard for most autoresponders. 

Teachable Pricing

Teachable starts at a much lower $39 per month, but it just doesn’t come with all the features Kartra has to offer. 

Plus, you’re also going to have to pay a 5% transaction fee which is pretty annoying.

It may not sound like a lot, but let’s say, you’re making $1,000 per month selling your courses, that’s an extra $50 charge per month. 

In which case, it would make sense to just upgrade or use Kartra. 

Thinkific pricing

Also, keep in mind, you’re still going to need an autoresponder, which usually costs around $49 per month. 

Overall Winner

Teachable may have slightly more advanced features for inside the membership (certificates, quizzes, etc.), but that does not outweigh the business tools Kartra has to offer:

  • Video hosting
  • Calendar
  • Sales funnel tools
  • More page building options

For me, the winner is Kartra.

Not only from the features but also from the pricing.

If you’re using Teachable, then you need to get an external autoresponder and probably use Zapier too. This costs usually around $49 per month.

And, with Kartra, you’re still going to get much better marketing tools, even in the $99 per month plan. 

Final Thoughts

Just because the winner was Kartra for me, doesn’t mean it has to be the same for you.

If you’re just looking to host a free course and that’s all you want to do, Teachable can be a great option too.

But, if you’re looking to build a business and have powerful marketing tools, then Kartra simply wins here.

Today, we’re going to be taking a look at Deliverability, what it is, and some practical tips that will help you improve your deliverability.

If you have started email marketing, you have probably heard of deliverability or probably know what it is.

Either way, taking the steps we are going to cover in this article to improve your deliverability is never a bad thing. 

What Is Deliverability?

Deliverability in email marketing is the ability of your emails to be delivered instead of going to the spam folder. Due to a very small number of people checking the spam folder, deliverability is extremely important if you want to get your emails read.

Why Is Deliverability Important? 

For most marketers and businesses, emails are used to drive conversions.

This means deliverability has a direct impact on the sales you make, meaning it’s tremendously important.

If nobody is reading your emails, nobody is going to click your links and nobody is going to buy from you.

So, getting deliverability right is extremely important.

What Affects Deliverability?

Here are some things that affect Deliverability:

  • The email itself (does it use words also commonly found in spammy emails?)
  • Your Domain IP’s reputation
  • Your Engagement
  • Domain Ownership verification
  • The servers deliverability from which you are sending the email (your autoresponder)

As you can see above, there are quite a lot of factors that go into your deliverability and there are probably a couple more.

However, in this article, we are going to focus on the ones mentioned above, as they are the factors that will have the biggest impact. 

How To Improve Deliverability 

Here are some steps you can take to improve your deliverability:

  • Don’t send spammy emails
  • Verify your domain ownership
  • Test your emails first
  • Clean your list regularly
  • Use the right autoresponder  

Don’t Send Spammy Emails

My first tip is to not send emails that probably trigger spam filters.

If your emails contain a lot of phrases about money or “click here to activate your system”, then they will probably land in the spam box quite often.

Avoid using those sorts of push-button phrases for whatever you are promoting, otherwise, your emails will probably always go to spam. 

Authenticate Your Domain Ownership

The second tip is to verify your domain ownership. 

You don’t necessarily have to do this, but it does definitely help if the servers receiving your mail know its actually you sending it.

Test Your Emails first

 

Test your emails before sending them, see where they land and then you can make tweaks to get them to land in the inbox.

Here I must admit, I barely ever bother to do this myself, unless it’s an email I feel is going to make a significant amount of sales.

I probably should though, as it can sometimes be the difference of landing in the Promotions tab, or the inbox which often has an open rate difference of 20%. 

So, don’t be lazy like me, test your emails and you will get more opens. 

Clean Your List

The next tip is simple, clean your list. Why?

If your inactive leads are receiving your emails, they obviously aren’t going to open them.

This means you are getting no engagement (opens, clicks, etc.) which the receiving servers will see, and then that will hurt your domain’s reputation.

At some point in your automation workflow, just add a little trigger Contact has read or clicked any email, if yes, continue the automation as you normally would, if not remove them from your list.

Use The Right Autoresponder

My last tip is to use the right autoresponder, as the reputation of the server you are sending from also plays a big role in the deliverability of your email.

ActiveCampaign consistently performs the best in deliverability, so you can check them out if you would like to. 

Aweber & Constant Contact performed well this year too.

What Is Split-Testing & How Does It Work?

 

In online marketing, you often hear the word split-testing being thrown around.

And, it’s for a good reason, as split-testing can have great benefits on your conversions.

If your conversions are higher, then you’re going to make more money.

It’s that simple.

What is Split-testing?

Split-testing also is known as A/B testing is the process of testing different variations in marketing. 

The reason why some call it A/B testing is because you are testing variation A vs variation B to see which one generates more conversions. 

Before modern technology, you used to have to manually create both pages (or whatever you’re testing), drive traffic the same amount of traffic to them and then compare the analytics of each page.

However, today, technology is a little more advanced and most software will give you an option to test two different variations.

By doing this, the software will then split the traffic into an equal amount between the two variations and show you the analytics of variation a and b. 

Where Can You Split-Test 

You can split-test pretty much anywhere and anything you want, but here are some common places which marketers like to split-test. 

Emails

Firstly, we have emails.

If you’re building an email sequence, you probably want to know whether Email A or Email B converts best.

So, you can then split-test those emails.

For example, you could see if your story generates more clicks or Email B which is a more personalized email but doesn’t contain a story. 

ActiveCampaign and GetResponse even lets you split-test inside of your automation workflow which is great.

This can also work well throughout your entire automation, combined with lead tagging based on the automation variation they went through. 

If you split-test two different variations of the entire automation workflow and your leads with the variation b tag converted much better, then you know to use that variation of the workflow. 

I also like to test variations if I send an important email to see which one land in the inbox and which one land in the promotions tab. 

Then, I can use the one which lands in the inbox and get a much better open rate. 

Landing & Sales Pages

This one is super important.

On your landing pages & sales pages, conversions are probably the most important thing.

If you can change a sales page to convert 10% better, then that same sales page is generating 10% more money. 

So, by creating two landing or sales pages, then split-testing them, you’re likely to find which one does better. 

Two great platforms that let you split-test extremely well are Kartra and InstaPage. 

Ads

The next one is also extremely important.

It’s ads.

If you are paying for your ad to be clicked, you can drive the cost down by generating more clicks.

Google, Facebook, and the rest optimize their platforms to make money, so they sell the spaces cheaper to advertisers that generate the most clicks.

If your ad isn’t generating clicks and somebody else’s is, Google & Facebook are going to prefer that advertiser and reward him by lowering his cost per click.

When you are buying thousands of clicks, this is a huge advantage.

Plus, you can also split-test different ads to see which one and its audiences convert better with your offer or qualify the visitor better for your offer, then this also has a direct impact on your sales. 

Pop-Ups

Lastly, we have Pop-ups.

And, this is also a really important place to split-test.

If you have a pop-up on your blog which is converting at 2%, there might be a variation that converts at 4%. 

That’s a huge difference. 

Now, every 1,000 visitors, you are collecting 40 emails instead of 20. 

What Elements Can You Split-Test? 

You can split-test pretty much anything you want.

  • Images 
  • Videos 
  • Button Size
  • Button Font
  • Button color 
  • Font size
  • Font Color 
  • Background Image

Pretty much anything on your page or email.

However, what I usually like to split-test is the:

  • Headline
  • Offer
  • Discount
  • Video (If it’s very different or one page uses a video and one doesn’t) 

I like to test things that will have a bigger impact.

If your customer really wants/needs whatever you have to offer, then changing the button color and font size, will probably not make a big change in conversions.

And, unless you are testing with a huge data set of visitors, you won’t even know if that small change in conversions was due to whatever you were testing or just because the people were a little different.

This would then result in more testing and you probably wouldn’t know when to stop.

But, if you would split-test something which would make a bigger impact like the offer, headline, etc. then, you can find meaningful changes much quicker.

That’s just how I do it, I’m sure there will be some people who like to split-test those little elements too. 

Benefits of Split-Testing

Split-testing really just has one benefit which is that you can find what works. 

By split-testing you can find which variation:

  • converts best
  • generates the most amount of traffic
  • is opened or read the most

You get to experiment and see which one will work the best.

That is pretty much the only benefit, but it’s huge. 

If you can change a page or an email to even just convert 1-2% better in the long run, you’re going to make a lot more money.

If you have an extremely small data set, I wouldn’t worry about it too much as you don’t know if the changes in conversions are due to your changes or if the visitors were just different.

Downsells: Lastly, we have the downsells. These are offers made when the customer has rejected a previous offer.

Again, usually on another page. 

This is often a discount or a smaller version of the previous offer.

Order Bumps: What Are They & How Can You Use Them? 

Order bumps can be great if you want to get your customer to spend more money with you.

Common products I see in order bumps are training, coaching, and consultations after the user has bought something less personal. 

The reason for this that people want personal help, so if they see that they can get it at a discounted price, they often will tick it.

However, you don’t have to offer those sorts of products.

Here take this example of GoDaddy offering domain privacy & protection. This is an order bump. 

Upsells: What Are They & How Can You Use Them? 

Our second feature is an upsell. 

If you go and purchase a product and afterward, you are taken to another page being offered something else, this is an upsell.

When your customer has already committed to you and has pulled out their credit card, it can be easier to get them to purchase your upsell, that’s why they exist.

Offering something that combines well with whatever they just bought usually works great. 

What are One-Click Upsells? 

One click upsells are pages as explained above, but the only difference is, the customer doesn’t even have to pull out their credit card again, they just click the purchase button, as they have already given you their credit card details. 

This just adds a couple of more conversions and makes the customer experience even easier. 

We will talk about a software later on in this article that lets you do this. 

Downsells: What Are They & How Can You Use Them? 

Lastly, we have downsells.

These can be used when your customer has rejected your previous offer.

What you want on these is usually a discount or a smaller offer of what you previously offered. Why?

As the risk or disadvantage (the money spent) outweighs the benefits of your product. 

So, you reduce the risk or disadvantage and give them another offer.

This is basically the last try (for today) to convert them. 

Offers like this are often used on rejected upsells or sometimes even in exit pop-ups. 

Why You Need These Tools If You Sell Products

They are just going to make you more money, it’s that simple.

If you add these features to your sales funnel, you can make more money by spending the same amount of money on getting people into that sales funnel.

You’re making more sales without increasing your ad spend or whatever your marketing budget is.

The point is, you’re making more sales from the same amount of people being thrown into that funnel.

Most email marketing tools will have this feature and many other features.

However, in the rare case that your autoresponder doesn’t have this tool, we are going to take a look at 3 autoresponders that do offer this feature. 

What are Automation Workflows? 

Automation workflows are several automated emails that are sent based on the actions of your subscriber. This feature is used to send more targeted and more personalized emails.

Below is an example of an automation workflow. 

For example, if your lead clicks a link, you can send email A, but if they don’t you can send email B.

Your autoresponder will do this for you and like the name says it’s automated. 

How Do They Work?

Using email marketing software, you can create your automation workflow for your list with the behavior triggers for specific emails.

Now, when somebody joins this list, they will be sent your emails.

And, depending on the actions they take, they will be sent specific emails that you set up. 

All without you having to manually check the actions of your subscribers. 

How To Setup Your Automation Workflow

First, you will need an autoresponder.

Then, you will start an automation workflow, some autoresponders also call them:

  • Automations
  • Automation sequences

These names all mean the same thing, this feature. 

Once, you have it set up, you need a place to collect emails.

Some autoresponders such as GetResponse come with landing pages that you can use too. 

But, you can also use forms or a plugin to collect emails from your blog

If you’re planning to collect emails from social media, you should use landing pages, again GetResponse has this feature built-in. 

Once, you have a place where you collect emails, you need to integrate this part with your automation workflow. 

This is different for every software, so just search up how to integrate the two pieces of software you are using (after this reading this post😃).

You need automation workflows, as they allow you to send more targeted emails.

If your lead hasn’t opened your email, you can resend it automatically if you want to.

And, if they have purchased from you, you can apply a tag so that you know they have purchased from you.

Later on, you can send everyone without that tag a promotional email, so you don’t annoy the people who have already purchased from you.

  • Time-Saving (You couldn’t even do this manually due to the amount of work involved)
  • It allows you to make more sales.

This will increase conversions.

Today, we’re going to talk about a marketing-related topic, email marketing to be precise.

It’s a feature that most autoresponders have and should have, as it has great benefits and helps you manage your list more effectively. 

In case, your autoresponder doesn’t have this feature, we are going to take a look at a couple of autoresponders that do offer this feature so that you can use it. 

WHat is Lead Tagging?

What Is Lead Tagging?

Lead tagging is a feature that most autoresponders offer which allows you to segment your list. When a customer takes a specific action or enters your automation, you can apply a tag to them to segment your list into groups of leads with tags.

For example, you could have a tag for all the people that purchased your mindset e-book.

Then, when you want to sell more copies of that mindset e-book, you can send a special offer to all the people without the tag. 

Real-life Example of Lead Tagging

Imagine, you’re in a queue at a Pizza place.

The people working there, get everyone who is waiting for Pizza to stand on the left, while everyone who has already bought pizza to stand on the right. 

That’s all it really is, but your autoresponder does this for you and the process is automated. 

The Benefits of Lead Tagging

 

As you can imagine, Lead tagging has significant benefits.

In short, it will simply help you sell more of whatever it is that you are selling.

And, there are three reasons for this:

  • more personalized emails
  • Better targeted emails
  • More organized lists

More Personalized Emails

More personalization is always good, it makes the prospect or customer feel more important.

The more personalized the email is, the better.

For example, you could send everyone who joined your list years ago an email, referencing to how long they have been on your email list. 

That would definitely make your subscribers feel important. 

Or, you could ask everyone who joined via your webinar for feedback. You get the point, you can send more personalized emails which is good. 

It’s definitely a factor when it comes to sales, the only way, you can get away with 0 personalization and a message that looks like it has been sent to millions of people without research is if the benefits of whatever you’re offering are extremely high.

Take a look at the two email examples below:

Email 1: “Hey there, I really like your website, it’s great! I was wondering if you needed a copywriter, I charge $250 per hour. If interested please get back to me.”

That’s probably one of the worst outreach emails ever, even if it was personalized. 

But, the “hey there,” is enough to make everyone hate the sender.

However, let’s flip the coin and send this email to 100 copywriters:

Email 2: “Hey there, I am looking for a copywriter for some of my emails, looking to pay around $250-$300 per hour (negotiable). If interested please let me know”

Now, I bet you there will be a fair few replies. Why?

Because of the offer is so good upfront. 

 That was quite a long explanation for a small point, but hopefully, you see how personalization affects the conversion rates. 

Better Targeted Emails

You can also send better-targeted emails.

I know some people will say that this is the same as personalization, but it’s not.

For example, you can send everyone who purchased one specific product from you an email.

Or, you can send everyone who hasn’t purchased from you but clicked on a specific link an email that offers them a discount. 

Again, better-targeted emails = more sales. 

Organized Lists

If you have ever let an email list is one of your accounts gets unorganized, you will know how hard it is to send emails that will engage all your contacts.

And, by only engaging a smaller percentage of your contacts, your open rate will fall down and from there, things will get worse and worse. 

This is why keeping your list organized has huge benefits. 

A more organized list will probably also result in more sales. 

Which Autoresponders offer Lead Tagging? 

Most autoresponders will offer lead tagging unless you’re using something really basic.

Either way, below are my 3 favorite autoresponders that offer lead tagging.

They are in no particular order, as they are all great for their own purposes.

What Is Attraction Marketing?

So, what is attraction marketing?

Attraction marketing is the process of gaining new customers through attraction i.e attracting new customers. 

By attraction, we usually mean attracting them automatically, or at least I do. If you aren’t attracting them automatically, you may as well do outreach, if that makes sense. 

If we are attracting our customers automatically, we can put more time into other tasks that will improve our scalability.

Attraction marketing is a long term strategy, you will probably never be able to set something up quickly so that it attracts tons of new customers.

Or, at least I have never heard of anything like that.

Have you?

Well, I guess you could consider paid ads such as Google ads quick attraction marketing.

However, you would still always have to actively run the ads and monitor them, so I wouldn’t really consider that attraction marketing. 

You aren’t really attracting anything, you’re going out and running an ad.

How To Start Attraction Marketing 

Now that we know what attraction marketing is, let’s have a look at how to start attraction marketing.

Before we go into any methods, we have to answer three key questions.

  1. Who is your customer?
  2. Where are they going or looking?
  3. How can you present yourself there?

Do you see how answering those three questions can help you build your attraction marketing strategy?

Well, you should be able to. After researching and answering those three questions, you should have a great idea of how to get started.

1. Who Is Your Customer?

Who is your customer? You really want to research and find out who your ideal customer is.

Their interests, demographics, etc. are all things that you should consider.

This will give you a much better idea for the next steps.

In general, you should always know your ideal customer, but for attraction marketing, it’s even more important.

You may get away with it doing other types of marketing (probably not), but with attraction marketing there is 0 chance. Why?

You don’t know where they are going, so you cannot present yourself there. Think about:

  • Age group
  • Interests
  • Country

And other attributes that make them your ideal customer. Then, put in some research to be sure.

2. Where are they going or looking?

You know exactly who they are, but where are they going/looking?

Are they the kind of person to be on social media a lot or what would they look for on Google/YouTube?

Chances are, they use social media and both of those search engines, so you probably have the choice.

However, you will want to determine a couple of places before moving onto the next step.

So, for example, if you were selling an email autoresponder, they may be on:

  • Social media sometimes with business-related interests
  • Searching for keywords on google related to email marketing, general marketing, making more sales, etc.

This will then give you a good idea of where you need to position yourself.

3. How can you present yourself there?

So, you know exactly who they are and where they are going, but how can you present yourself there?

That’s the last step you need to figure out. After you have figured that out, you can start and get to work. But be prepared for the other road blocks along the way, because there will always be more. 

There are usually a few more how’s after the main how, if that makes sense. I am guessing that for most of you reading this, the place where your ideal customer goes is social media, Google or YouTube. 

So, I will give you some additional guidance on those three platforms. Any other platform? 

I can’t really help you there. Although, I think almost any businesses customers uses at least one of those platforms, if not more. 

How To Use Social Media For Attraction Marketing

I’ll be honest, I am not the most skilled social media marketer myself.

I never really liked social media a lot and it’s not part of my main strategy.

However, I have researched it a little, so I can give you some guidance.

And in all fairness, every businesses ideal customer is probably on social media, so yours are there too.

So, how can you reach them?

By looking for accounts that your ideal customer follows, engaging with it, and posting similar content. 

The engagement part is something that I learned from Zlappo’s blog (if you’re into using Twitter, you should read it).

You want to do this with a couple of accounts that are followed by your target audience and add tremendous value.

Their followers will see it and then often follow you.

Do this, alongside posting content they find interesting for a consistent couple of months, you will attract a lot of customers.

It’s such a simple formula, but it works.

You look at every business/influencer that has grown quickly, they have usually done something like this.

Unless they were posting TikTok videos of themselves that went viral.

This is something that I got wrong a lot on social media too, I used to think you grow by following users off related accounts.

However, that doesn’t work, you will not build a targeted audience. Why?

Because of the target audience/ buyer ratio to followers.

You will just end up following a bunch of random people who have 0 interest in what you have to say, let alone what you have to offer.

That’s also one of the reasons why my Twitter engagement is quite bad because I did it all wrong.

Luckily, I learned and it is starting to increase now.

How To Use Google Or YouTube For Attraction Marketing

Now let’s talk about Google and YouTube which is my preferred method to attraction marketing. 

The reason for this is because if somebody is actively searching for something and finds your article, the traffic quality is high due to the mindset of that person.

If you would like more info on this, I recommend reading the green pool example.

So, how do you start attraction marketing with Google and YouTube?

Well, it really comes down to finding keywords that your target audience would enter into the search bar.

You can use tools such as Ubersuggest or KW surfer for Google chrome to find the search volume of these keywords. 

Once you have found them, you need to come up with a long term strategy on how you want to rank for them.

Go for easier ones first, then once you have “captured” them (i.e you gain traffic) you can try to improve them until you own them (i.e you get the majority of traffic off that keyword). 

After you have done so and you have started gaining some “authority” through links, you can work yourself up with harder keywords.

Honestly, you would be surprised at how many keywords there actually are that are used by your target audience. 

Attraction Marketing Is a Long Term Strategy

You might attract some new customers quickly, but chances are you won’t. 

It doesn’t matter though, because attraction marketing is a long term strategy.

It doesn’t matter if you are using social media, YouTube or Google, it’s a long term strategy. 

To attract customers will take time.

Usually, it has a snowball effect. So, don’t worry if you don’t gain new customers in the first couple of months, that’s not the goal here.

The goal is to build up assets that attract large volumes of customers, not attract a couple of customers quickly.

Just make sure that you are aware of that before you start.

Otherwise, you will just get discouraged and give up. 

Stay Consistent & Attract Customers

Another thing that I would like to mention is consistency. Yep, I know I mention this one a lot, but it’s the key to everything. 

You’re not going to get tons of traffic off posting one blog post.

One YouTube video won’t generate a lot of traffic.

If you engage with value on social media once, you won’t gain a ton of followers. 

It’s the same as going to the gym. Do you go to the gym once and then expect results? Of course not, that would be stupid. It’s the same with attraction marketing or even any other type of marketing. 

I don’t care what you do, you need consistency.

Well today, we will be discussing exactly that, how they make money and most importantly how you could do the same if you wanted to. So, you will not only learn the methodology behind what these companies are doing but also how you can actually do the same. 

The reason, I can tell you how it works is because I do it myself. In fact, you may have even received a pop-up on this article. 

Why Do Companies Give Away Free Products?

So, why do companies give away free products? Companies give away free products so that they can collect your data. The most common data they collect is your email address, however, sometimes it’s also your phone number and other data. Using this data, they can then contact you in the future to sell something to you. 

Not only do they get one chance of selling to you, they actually get multiple chances, as they can send an email every week or even every day if they wanted to. Multiple chances to sell means increased chances of sales. 

If they were to just buy adverts and send the traffic (visitors) to a sales page, then on average 98% of visitors will leave. Not only will they leave, but they will also leave forever, as the company does not have their contact information. However, by giving away something for free, they will get a lot of leads information for a cheaper price and therefore increase the lifetime value of a visitor.

After they have their contact information, they can then follow-up with these leads for months or even years to come to make (repeated) sales. It’s similar to big companies such as Spotify or Netflix offering free trials. Yes, the trial is designed to make the initial subscription sale, however, if the trial doesn’t make the sale, Spotify and Netflix will still have your contact information and may tease you with promotional offers to eventually make the sale. 

If a company is paying for advertising space to give away free products, then they are paying a price for a lead, who they know is worth more to them in the long-term. They usually calculate this through previous sales statistics, or they test it. 

Free + Shipping Explained

So, I am sure you may have been tempted with some free products where you only have to pay to ship the product. 

“FREE + Shipping” 

This is something used by a lot of E-commerce stores and usually, the shipping fee is a little more than the standard shipping fees. Usually, these items are very cheap and the company is even in profit by doing this. 

However, sometimes this isn’t the case and the company is also trying to generate leads or make money on upsells. This is often used by dropshipping store’s as explained in Free plus shipping method.

In case you don’t know what dropshipping is, it’s when you sell products from suppliers for a higher price when an order is made you go and purchase it from the supplier for a cheaper price. 

Why Giving Away Free Products  Is Effective

Companies giving away free products is effective because:

  • It generates targeted leads
  • free products build trust
  • everyone likes free products meaning they will enter their information – Cheaper leads

So, the first reason is that it generates targeted leads. For example, let’s say that a company is giving away 20 free weight loss tips or an E-book on weight loss. When visitors enter their contact information, they will know that they are interested in Weight loss. This means that they will find it easier to sell weight-loss products to them in the future. 

The second reason is that free products build trust. You are more likely to buy from a company that you already know or have given you something for free that you have enjoyed. This is another benefit of giving away free products. 

Lastly, everyone wants free products, so it will be a lot easier to get visitors’ contact information, as the visitor will want the free product. This means, that the company is generating leads for a cheaper price than by simply asking for contact information. 

How You Can Do The Same & Make Money Too

Now, what if I would tell you, that you could do exactly the same as these companies? 

You can, but it’s not going to be easy. However, you can do the same and simply sell other businesses products, for high commissions between 50-75%. This model is called affiliate marketing and it’s something that we talk about a lot on this blog. 

All you do is sell other businesses products, that’s affiliate marketing. If these products are digital, you will earn a high commission, 50-75%.
