Welcome to the ClickFunnels vs Thrive Architect comparison, where we will help you find the best software for you.

ClickFunnels & Thrive are both pieces of software that allow you to build funnels and landing pages.

Although they have very similar purposes, they are a little different from each other and have their own benefits.

Throughout this article, we will be outlining the benefits, features & all the information you need to make the right choice for you.

ClickFunnels vs Thrive Architect: Key Differences

The main differences between ClickFunnels and Thrive Architect are pricing. While ClickFunnels comes at a monthly fee, Thrive Architect comes at a one-time price. Also, note that Thrive Architect is a plugin for the WordPress CMS, while ClickFunnels is a SaaS tool.

ClickFunnels vs Thrive Architect: About The Platforms

Before we talk about the direct comparison between these two platforms, we will just cover some basic information about ClickFunnels, as well as Thrive.

ClickFunnels was found in 2014 by Russel Brunson, with the purpose of being an all-in-one platform that eliminates the hassle of having to integrate tons of different software to create one sales funnel.

Since then it has become one of the biggest funnel builder platforms on the market and is the preferred funnel builder platform for tons of marketers.

Thrive Themes was founded around the same time, in 2013 by marketing expert Shane Melaugh and a tech expert named Paul McCarthy.

Thrive Themes offers tons of different useful plugins & themes to WordPress users that offer a variety of functions.

However, today we are actually going to be comparing ClickFunnels to Thrive Architect, as this is the plugin that can be used to create funnels and landing pages.

As I did say Thrive Architect is a plugin for WordPress, which means you will also need web hosting to host your site, Bluehost the leading platform in the market comes in at around $60 per year.

Bluehost also makes it really easy to install WordPress.

ClickFunnels vs Thrive Architect: Where Do They Differ?

Now that we have had a look at what both of these pieces of software have to offer, let’s take a look at the key differences between them.

We are going to divide these differences into areas where ClickFunnels wins & areas where Thrive Architect wins.

Of course, there is also the pricing differences that I have not included in this section, however, there will be an in-depth look at the pricing in the next section.

ClickFunnels Wins In:

You need ClickFunnels in order to convert cheap traffic for affiliate marketing

1. Membership Sites

ClickFunnels allows its users to build membership sites, whereas Thrive doesn’t.

If this is a feature that your business needs, then I would not recommend Thrive, as it is not available in Thrive.

2. Comprehensive Sales Tools

What I mean by comprehensive sales tools is the number of features that you can use within your sales funnels.

Sales tools that ClickFunnels has that are not available in Thrive:

  • One-Click Up/Down Sells
  • Order bump

3. Sharable Funnels

This feature is something that is not available in Thrive Architect. ClickFunnels allows it’s users to share funnels with friends & business partners through a link. If somebody clicks on this link, the funnel will be imported into their account. While a lot of businesses would not use this feature, it can be a reason for some businesses to go pick ClickFunnels.

4. Other ClickFunnels Winning Points

Now, the reasons that these features are in the “other” section is because they are either very minor or other applications can easily be integrated that would erase these points.

  • Hosting Included

This is a minor as the cost of ClickFunnels is pretty high, so you are not actually saving any money despite the hosting being included.

  • Email Marketing Tools

ClickFunnels does come with some email marketing tools, however, they are very limited, which is the reason why I would still recommend getting an autoresponder.

In this case, you will have to do use an additional autoresponder with either platform. A very minor win for ClickFunnels here.

  • A/B Split Testing

This is similar to the hosting situation, ClickFunnels comes with split testing, however, the plugin Thrive Optimize will allow you to create split tests.

If you were to get a thrive membership at $240 per year, you would get all thrive plugins & themes, so it is a lot cheaper than ClickFunnels, but ClickFunnels does have it all built-in.

Again, a very very small win for ClickFunnels in this aspect.

  • Free Trial

ClickFunnels offers a 14 Day Free Trial, whereas Thrive offers a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. So, again it is a really small win, as many people prefer free trials.

Thrive Architect Wins In

1. Webinars

The first aspect in which Thrive Architect wins is webinars, although ClickFunnels does offer webinars on their platform, they are pretty buggy & horrible to use in general.

So, this is definitely an aspect in which Thrive takes the points.

2. Pricing

Thrive Architect comes at a way lower price than ClickFunnels, in fact, the one-time fee of Thrive architect is cheaper than the monthly price of ClickFunnels.

3. Templates

Next, we have templates, although both ClickFunnels have nice templates, Thrive offers a bigger variety of templates that are suited for many types of businesses.

ClickFunnels Templates all look pretty similar and are only really suited for the most popular niches such as E-marketing & Weight loss.

4. Freedom

Thrive Architect offers more freedom in many ways.

Firstly, you are not dependant on a platform like you are with ClickFunnels. If ClickFunnels would ever go out of business (which they probably won’t), you could run into a lot of trouble if you were a ClickFunnels user.

Also, another reason why you have more freedom with Thrive is that the landing page & funnels are more customizable than they are with ClickFunnels.

You can also build almost anything thrive by using other plugins as well. Whereas with ClickFunnels, you are limited to their features.

ClickFunnels vs Thrive Architect: Pricing

Now, let’s get onto the pricing, where there is a huge difference between ClickFunnels and Thrive.

ClickFunnels Pricing:

ClickFunnels pricing starts at $99 per month, which is pretty steep for beginners. However, it does come with a lot of features as well, so let’s have an in-depth look at the pricing.

Clickfunnels pricing

If you were to be on the $99 per month plan, you would be looking at $1200 per year.

Or, if you are on the $297 per month plan, you would be looking at around $3600 per year.

So, it can be a little expensive, especially if you are not using all of the features.

Thrive Architect Pricing:

Thrive Architect comes in at a one time fee, which is always nice. Let’s have an in-depth look at the Thrive Architect pricing.

Thrive Architect Pricing

Thrive Architect Pricing Explained:

As you can see Thrive has 3 different pricing plans, the Thrive membership, The 5 Licence pack, and a “single license”.

The license packs are licenses to install Thrive architect on a WordPress site. So, the single license allows you to install Thrive Architect on one site, whereas the 5 license pack allows you to install Thrive architect on five sites.

The Thrive membership that you can see on the left of the pricing will allow you to install all thrive plugins & themes on up to 25 websites. This is paid annually, so you would be looking at around $240 per year.

The Price Difference

As you can see in the pricing table, there is a pretty big difference in the cost between Thrive & ClickFunnels.

ClickFunnels lowest plan comes in at $99 per month and thrive’s lowest plan comes in at a one-time fee of $67.

Now, if you are just looking to create lead funnels/landing pages then I recommend going with Thrive as you will save over $1100 per year.

If you need to create sales funnels, then things get a little more complicated…

As with Thrive Architect, you will have to get another paid plugin such as SamCart or Thrive Checkout (Thrive Checkout is not a product by Thrive Themes).

These will still work out cheaper than ClickFunnels, however, many marketers don’t like to integrate all these different pieces of software, in which case they go with one of the all-in-one platforms such as ClickFunnels.

If you want to find more all-in-one platforms, I recommend having a read through 13 Best Funnel Builders For Online Business (Updated 2020).

Which One Is More Suited For You?

Now, let’s have a look at finding the best software for you.

Firstly, you need to have a look at the key differences between both of these platforms.

You should have a look at if a feature you need is only available in one of these two platforms.

In this case, I would recommend going with that platform.

If they both offer all the features that you need for your business, you could go by pricing and go with Thrive Architect or go by your preference.

You should also remember that ClickFunnels offers a 14-day free trial, so you can try it out first. Also, Thrive offers a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can kind of do the same there.

My Experience With ClickFunnels & Thrive

Next, I wanted to quickly tell you about my experience with ClickFunnels and Thrive.

ClickFunnels Experience

For around six months, I was a ClickFunnels user and although I liked the platform, I ran into some trouble a couple of times.

By trouble I mean, bugs, changes in the affiliate program, funnels not working while I was running paid ads and not being able to reach their terrible support team.

Often, I also noticed that some of the leads between the integration with my autoresponder got lost.

My biggest problem with ClickFunnels is that they focus a lot more on selling, then they do on keeping their customers happy.

Their support team also often takes two or more days to respond.

Overall, it was just a little too many problems for the price tag to put a dent into my profits.

Thrive Architect Experience

In those six months of using ClickFunnels, I did build up some recurring commissions in a variety of different affiliate programs.

So, then I canceled ClickFunnels and I was only going to focus on building out this website as much as I possibly could.

However, then one of my friends told me about Thrive Architect, so I tried it out as it was only $67 and I absolutely love it.

I was never creating sales funnels anyway as I am a full-time affiliate, so I only needed lead funnels/landing pages which Thrive Architect does perfectly.

The templates are amazing, I can access it quickly from my WordPress dashboard (which I used anyway) and there is no monthly fee, it’s honestly great.

Personally, I have not run into any trouble with Thrive Architect at all, however, I will say that there is a bigger learning curve then there is with ClickFunnels.

Unless of course, you are very familiar with WordPress, but even then it’s a little harder to use than ClickFunnels.

Both of these platforms are great tools for online businesses.

While ClickFunnels comes at a way larger cost, it still might be the best option for a lot of online businesses that need a comprehensive sales funnel.

ClickFunnels offers comprehensive sales funnel tools while still being an all-in-one platform.

However, it does come at a pretty large cost which means that if you don’t need all of its features, you have better options such as Thrive Architect.

Thrive offers a brilliant landing page/funnel builder based on WordPress with beautiful templates.

It also is not dependent on a platform such as ClickFunnels as it is a plugin for WordPress, which is something that I like a lot.

Overall, they are both great pieces of software that you should consider for your business. I recommend taking a close look at what your businesses needs are so that you can make the right choice for you.

Here are the things you should take a close look at:

  • Your needs in features
  • Your budget
  • Your preferences platforms

I hope this has helped you find the right solution for you!

Similar Solutions

Lastly, I just wanted to show you other alternatives that are available to you. I will give you a brief description on all of them, but if you would like to read an more in-depth description of these platforms, again I recommend to read the best funnel builders.

GetResponse was originally only an autoresponder, however, in the last two years, they have added funnels & landing pages to their service too.

There pricing starts at a low cost of $15 per month and they offer a 30-day free trial.

Next on our list is Kartra, they also offer a 14 Day Trial for $1.

They are also another all-in-one platform, but they do it much better than ClickFunnels.

With better email marketing tools, a helpdesk tool, nicer templates, and video hosting, they are a much better option than ClickFunnels.
