Affiliate Disclosure: Look, I'm working my ass off delivering value to you. So, yes this blog is monetized through affiliate products. They are true recommendations and if you purchase them, I probably earn a commission (at no additional cost to you).
Welcome to this post, today I wanted to talk about how to sell more as an affiliate marketer.
These tips should help you sell more affiliate products and ultimately help you make more commissions. If you are a frequent reader of this blog, you may already know some of these tips, but there will still be some new tips to help you sell more as well.
I do think that a lot of these tips are often ignored by the content that a lot of “gurus” create, as it’s their job to make everything sound as easy as possible. However, I try to provide honest tips on selling more products as an affiliate, so if you enjoyed this post make sure to leave a comment or share the post!
So, let’s get started!
Why Aren’t You Selling Enough As An Affiliate?
The first question you should be asking is, “Why am I not selling enough as an affiliate?”
You should be identifying the problem and then you can improve your sales. Are you not generating enough traffic? Is your traffic not converting?
It’s important that you do this, otherwise, you will find it hard to make sales. Also, often the problem is that affiliates haven’t actually started, they have shared their affiliate link on social media a couple of times and then wonder why they made very little sales. This isn’t really how you make sales. If your affiliate product converts well, you will probably make 2 sales in 100 visits that you generate, so it’s not very efficient.
In this post, I will also be showing you some more effective ways of selling products. Just make sure to have a look at what’s not working, so that you know what you need to improve in order to make more sales.
How To Sell More As An Affiliate Marketer
There are many different ways to sell more as an affiliate. When you want to sell more products, you need to improve the key factors which are:
- The volume of traffic you are attracting
- Lead Generation
- Optimizing your Source of sales
When we improve these factors, the chances of sales becomes a lot more likely. We should always aim to improve these factors, despite how many sales we are making.
We will be talking about how you can improve these factors in more detail throughout this post.
Focusing On The Right Things
Another really important thing that you need to do is focusing on the right things.
You should not be chasing sales through messages on social media, doing this you will make little to no sales. If you want to be successful in affiliate marketing, you need to focus on building assets that will pull in customers.
You shouldn’t be chasing after or looking for customers, this is not efficient. If you do this, you might as well go work at a very poorly paid job. When you start building an asset like this, you shouldn’t focus on making money for the first couple of months. These assets take time and effort to build and you won’t make money straight away.
If you focus on making money, you will probably get demotivated and stop, even if you were going in the right direction. So, what should you focus on instead?
Growth. As you grow your asset, you will make sales anyway. The more you grow, the more sales & leads you will generate. When you focus on growing, you will get motivated on days, where you see an increase in views or even when you receive a nice comment. If you have a significant decrease in views or engagement, you can learn from it and produce more content.
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t have your affiliate links in place, or you shouldn’t collect emails and sell in them. You can always do that. However, you shouldn’t focus on it, otherwise, you will get discouraged, despite being on the right path.
As I said earlier, just focus on your growth and these factors:
- How much content you produce
That’s what has worked well for me, so you may want to consider this strategy.
Tips To Sell More As An Affiliate
Below, you will find 9 tips that will help you sell more.
These tips have helped me sell a lot more, as I focused on providing value through platforms that have the highest value to me. Unless you are already making a lot of sales, these sales won’t necessarily help you sell more products overnight.
However, they may change the way, you promote your products, in which case they will significantly increase your sales in a matter of months. If you were looking for some “get rich quick” affiliate marketing tips, then this is not the place.
This blog is about teaching real strategies that will help you grow your affiliate marketing businesses in the long term. If you apply these strategies effectively, you will be able to make a big increase in your sales.
So, let’s get into the tips!
The first thing that you always want to improve is your volume.
What I mean by volume is how much traffic you are producing, alongside the volume of content that you are creating.
To increase your volume, you should have an asset such as a blog or YouTube channel, that pulls in new visitors and customers.
To increase the volume, you should create as much content as possible and promote it as much as possible to help it build.
The more volume you produce, the higher your chances of sales. So, if you aren’t getting enough sales, it’s very likely due to you not producing enough volumes of traffic. So, you should have a real strategy to produce more and more volume.
2. Don’t Be A Salesperson
The next tip is to not be a salesperson. In fact, you will probably sell more by selling less.
Often, when you are very desperate to make sales, your leads/visitors will notice, and guess what?
They won’t purchase from you, because why should they trust somebody who is desperately trying to sell to them. It just doesn’t make sense, so you will find it a lot harder to make sales. Instead, focus on offering value, this will increase your sales. Describe the true benefits of using your affiliate product, don’t be an annoying salesman. As your volume increases, doing this will make you more sales.
When affiliates promote products in a salesman tone, personally, I would never buy from them.
3. Attraction Marketing
Attraction marketing, the most important part of affiliate marketing that people often ignore.
Are you chasing after sales on social media by posting & messaging?
Well, you shouldn’t. Your sales should come to you. How? By focusing on traffic from search engines i.e Google or YouTube. When you produce content that is found in these search engines, your visitors will be actively searching for you.
First of all, this means that you are attracting your ideal customer. Secondly, it also means that your visitors/viewers will have increased trust in you, for the following reasons:
- You are answering their search query
- You aren’t chasing after them or even paying for them to see your content, resulting in increased trust.
As I am sure you already know, increased trust means increased conversions. So, attraction marketing should always be part of your affiliate strategy.
4. Improved Attraction Marketing
Now that we know the importance of attraction marketing for affiliate marketing, let’s have a look at ways to improve it.
How we could improve it:
- Making it more visible
- Improving the conversions
- Optimizing for your viewers to stick around.
To make it more visible, we can do two things.
- Again, creating more content will increase the likelihood of visibility.
- Better keyword research.
Keyword research is important, as without keyword research it would be hard to rank. So, good keyword research increases the visibility and therefore improves our attraction marketing.
To improve the conversions, we can create high converting content, which is actually a separate point in this article.
However, there is also something else that we could do. It’s email marketing. In emails, we are more likely to make sales. Not only this, but it also increases the likelihood of our customers to stick around. Lastly, we can also ask our viewers to subscribe (to our YouTube channel) or take similar actions. This will increase our views on future pieces of content, meaning more sales.
An important part of attraction marketing is visibility, so make sure to make your content as visible as possible!
5. Email? Messenger bots?
Are you using email marketing or Messenger bots?
Well, if you aren’t, you should.
61% of consumers say they prefer to get sent promotions in emails (smallbiztrends)
Additionally, as I have mentioned many times before, email marketing drives the most sales in digital marketing. (business insider)
So, you should really add it to your affiliate strategy. The reason I have included messenger bots in this section is that they see really good open rates, and a lot of affiliates use them successfully.
If you’re on a budget, you can also use this free autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

6. Offer Bonuses
Another great way to push sales on certain pieces of content. By offering bonuses, you increase the chances of sales, especially, if nobody else is offering bonuses. Additionally, if the bonuses are relevant to the product that you are promoting and will help the users with the promoted product, this will increase conversions as well.
So, if your content isn’t converting well enough, you should definitely consider offering bonuses, as it really helps to push sales. Not always, but on content such as honest reviews, it can help a lot.
7. High Converting Content
How to’s with affiliate links, reviews, product vs. product, all these pieces of content convert great.
When somebody searches for a piece of content like this, they are already presold. Often, they are just looking for final confirmation before buying, so the conversion rates are crazy. If you don’t have any content like this, you should definitely start creating some.
It’s simple and easy to do, yet converts extremely well. So, why wouldn’t you?
Exactly, now and again, just add these pieces of content to your strategy. If you need help finding keywords, check out how to do keyword research for blog posts.
8. Create Content That Will Help You Grow
Tip #8 is creating content that will help you grow.
So, we spoke about the importance of volume earlier, but how do you get volume?
By creating content that will help you grow. This content doesn’t necessarily have to make sales, it’s purpose should just be to help you grow. Usually, this content will offer a lot of value to your audience.
Creating this content this content will get you more views, engagement, and credibility. Although it doesn’t have to make sales, you can still optimize it for the viewers to stick around. For example, collecting emails or asking them to subscribe. As I mentioned earlier, this will get you more eyeballs on your future content, meaning it will increase the likelihood of sales.
9. Optimizing Your Source Of Sales
Lastly, I wanted to talk about optimizing your source of sales:
- For conversion
- For revenue
And for the visitor to stick around as we mentioned a couple of times already. Now, how do you do this?
The exact methods are up to you, but one thing to really optimize is your copy in emails, Titles & Funnels. A lot of affiliate marketers ignore copywriting when you really shouldn’t. Additionally, you should be clear on your call to actions.
Also, creating content that converts, but we have also already covered that. What I am saying is to optimize your content and your emails for conversions & revenue.
I hope that this guide has helped your affiliate strategy.
Just remember to build long term assets that bring in volumes of traffic. If you do this and optimize for revenue & conversion, then you will make a lot more sales. If you did enjoy this post, make sure to leave a comment and/or share the post.
I’ll see you around!
