There are many funnel and website builders out there. But two of the most popular options are Kartra and ClickFunnels.
Today, we’re going to be comparing Kartra vs ClickFunnels to see which option is best for your business. And, we’ll be doing so in an unbiased way because a lot of comparisons are extremely biased towards one solution.
However, when it comes to funnel builders there is no “one size fits all approach”.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Overview
Here is a brief overview of Kartra and ClickFunnels.

What Is Kartra?
Kartra is an all-in-one marketing platform that launched in 2018. It aims to take the functions of all the most popular business tools and put them under one roof.
The company behind Kartra, Genesis digital was founded in 2013 and has also developed various other popular software for businesses like EverWebinar and WebinarJam.
What Is ClickFunnels?
ClickFunnels probably does not need an introduction.
But, it was founded in 2014 by Russel Brunson and has since then become the most popular funnel builder on the market with over 120,000 customers.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Similarities
Before we take a look at how both of these platforms are different, let’s see what similarities they have. Below, I’ve outlined all of the features that both of them have.
Page-Building & Templates Feature
Both have an easy-to-use page builder that you can use to build your funnels, websites, or pretty much any page you can think of.
ClickFunnels and Kartra also both have a great selection of templates that can easily be edited with this feature.
I find that the ClickFunnels’ templates look more like different versions of the same template. But that’s just my personal opinion on them. Of course, some people love the templates inside of ClickFunnels and that is fine also.
I’ll let you decide which ones you prefer.
Using it, you can create various types of fully-customizable checkouts to sell your products, which you can then add to your pages.
They both have comprehensive sales funnel features like:
- One-click upsells/downsells
- Order bumps
This is great, as they’ll help you get the most out of your conversions.
Email Marketing Feature
They both have very advanced email marketing features that are pretty much like a normal autoresponder. But, ClickFunnels follow up funnels are only available on the $297 plan, while all of Kartra’s features are available even on the lowest plan with one exception.
But, we’ll talk more about this later on.
Affiliate management is also an important feature for most online businesses these days. Luckily both Kartra and ClickFunnels have this feature, meaning you’ll be able to recruit and manage your affiliates directly from the same platform as everything else.
This has a great advantage that you won’t need any external affiliate management platform, as they can sometimes be quite costly depending on the solution.
If you’re a course creator or just want to build any type of membership site, you’ll need this feature.
Kartra and ClickFunnels have a great membership site builder to help you build membership sites. They both have most of the features you’d expect from a regular membership site builder like drip-fed content, different levels of access, and more.
However, Kartra takes this one step further and also lets you share other assets of your funnel, such as your:
- Membership sites
- Or any other assets in Kartra
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Differences
Here’s where the real action starts. Below, I’ve outlined the areas in which each platform wins. Take a look at them, and if one of the big ones would be an area that is important for your business, it might make the decision easier for you.
Where Kartra Wins
Let’s start with the areas in which Kartra wins. And to be fair, there are quite a few.
Video Hosting Feature
This feature is comparable to something like Wistia, as it lets you host videos and add CTA’s to them. You can also tag based on the actions of your customers, or how long they have watched your video.
Using this for your sales pages and membership sites could be extremely useful. If you would want to use something like this for ClickFunnels, you would have to use external software (for example Wistia) which would cost you $99+ per month.
This is a pretty sweet feature which you would be missing out on if you did not go for Kartra.
All Features In Every Plan
Kartra gives you access to all features, even if you are on the lowest plan. There is one exception to this, as you’ll see later on. But, all of the primary features are available in all plans.
With ClickFunnels, you kind of have to be on the $297 plan to get the best features like follow up funnels, and affiliate management. That’s quite annoying and in my opinion a clear aspect in which Kartra wins.
The reason I say this is because Kartra has more features anyway, so even on the $99 or $199 plan, you’ll be getting more features than in ClickFunnels’ $297 plan.
Robust Affiliate Reporting
The affiliate reporting in ClickFunnels is very limited for both affiliates and vendors.
As an affiliate, you will only be able to see details like sales, revenue, active trials, and a few other things. In Kartra, however, you get MUCH more such as the email of your referrals, when they signed up, the type of transaction and so much more, so you’ll always know what’s going on.
For vendors this is the same, in ClickFunnels, you don’t get any further details apart from what I mentioned above. Kartra however, gives you much more details on individual affiliates which makes managing them easier.
Another feature that is only available in Kartra is the Calendar feature. This is comparable to Calendly and lets your clients book appointments with you.
If you own a service-based business or offer some type of consulting, this feature will make your life so much easier. That being said, you can get Calendly for like $12 per month, so it shouldn’t be too big of a deal.
It’s a nice bonus but by no means a game-changer.
Something that I do also like about Kartra is that it has a helpdesk feature built-in. This can be added to your websites, funnels, and membership sites.
What’s cool about this though, is that you can directly access transaction actions (like refunds) from it, as it’s part of Kartra. To have this available for free is also quite good, as normally helpdesk tools cost you around $10-$20 per month for every agent that is using it.

Kartra also has a feature called Behavior-Adaptive-Marketing (BAM).
This feature allows your pages to change automatically based on the behavior of your visitors.
This includes elements such as the:
- And more
This is extremely powerful and will increase your conversions, as it helps you match your pages to your market. For example, you can have a page and if your visitors click or scroll to a certain part of the page, you can make another page look different because you know they are interested in one particular part.
You can probably imagine how powerful this is.
Kartra also has Heat Maps. In case you don’t know what heat maps are, it’s basically a map of your visitor’s behavior once they are on your site.
This allows you to see your page, how your visitors are seeing it. From there, you can analyze their behavior to see how you can increase your conversions.
Kartra Affiliate Marketplace
Kartra also gives you access to their marketplace, where you can upload your own products or find other creators. From there you can recruit affiliates or apply to become an affiliate for other people’s products. It’s quite comparable to ClickBank, although not yet as big.
ClickFunnels does not have this feature.
Kartra also wins in terms of the features that they both have. With more comprehensive email marketing tools, a better membership site builder, more split-testing functions and stronger affiliate management options, it’s another big win for Kartra.
The email feature, for example, has much better automation sequences than ClickFunnels’ follow up funnels. And, there are countless more examples of this.
Where ClickFunnels Wins
Of course, ClickFunnels also has aspects in which it beats Kartra. Take a look at them below to see if they would impact your business.
The biggest point in which ClickFunnels wins in my opinion is the webinar feature that Kartra doesn’t have. On ClickFunnels you can host live webinars without needing any type of 3rd party integration.
However, if you want to host pre-recorded (evergreen) webinars, you will need an external service like Everwebinar. You can create the funnel for the webinar, but you can’t host them there.
To put this into perspective, the ClickFunnels Facebook group has 250K members, while Kartra’s is only at around 20,000. This means in general, you’ll be able to get more “community help” and also network with more people.
However, 20,000 isn’t exactly small either, so I’m not sure if there would be too many additional benefits of a bigger community.
More Educational Material
ClickFunnels is known for all their educational material, and it’s for a good reason.
You have Funnelflix which has tons of tutorials on building funnels, copywriting, and related topics. There is also the Funnel Hack-A-Thon which is a weekly live stream where coaches group coach you and other ClickFunnels users to build their funnels.
Plus, you also have the funnel hacker forum where you can network with other ClickFunnels users. So, ClickFunnels does not disappoint on the educational side of things.
Kartra does actually have some as well such as the Kartranaut training program, but it’s not quite as packed as the material inside of ClickFunnels.
ClickFunnels has been around longer and is more popular. For this reason, it naturally has more integrations.
This is an advantage in case you do need to use external software. Later on, I’ll run you through the list of integrations. That being said, Kartra has more membership site integrations, although ClickFunnels has more overall.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Direct Feature Comparison
To give you a better idea of the features, I have made a direct comparison table below.
These are all of the core features.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Integrations
ClickFunnels has been around for longer and is more popular. This naturally means that it integrates with more software.
Here are all the integrations for Kartra. But keep in mind you get access to the inbound and outbound API key, so in a lot of cases that will be enough for custom integrations. Additionally, it also integrates with Zapier with which you can practically integrate with anything.
Email Marketing Integrations:
- Elastic Email
- Wishlist Member
- Digital Access Pass (DAP)
- Inbound API key
- Outbound API key
ClickFunnels also gives you access to the inbound and outbound API. Plus, it also integrates with Zapier, so you should be able to do custom integrations too. It also has a lot of native integrations, so you shouldn’t run into too many problems with the integration side of things.
- Apple Pay
- NMI (Gateway Funnel Pros)
- Warrior Plus
- JV Zoo
- Constant Contact
- Market Hero
- EverWebinar Integration
- GoToWebinar Integration
- WebinarJam Integration
- Zoom Webinar Integration
Email Hosting & Integrations:
- Inbound API
- Outbound API
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Pricing
Now, let’s take a look at the cost of which both of these platforms come.
ClickFunnels only has two pricing options which is a little annoying. Well, there are two and the two comma x club which is $1,497. I’d assume that most reading this will not yet be looking to go for that option.
Something to note though is that you would have to be on the $297 plan to get access to the following:
- Follow up funnels
- Affiliate management
- Priority support
- Funnel Hack-A-Thon
- Full version of FunnelFlix
This is kind of annoying as they lock away some of the best features in my opinion. You can see the other limits of each plan down below.
Kartra doesn’t lock away the features on the lower plans, other than Kartra agency on the starter plan. Apart from that, you’ll get access to all features no matter which plan you are on.
You can see the limits of each plan down below.
Kartra agency is the feature that allows you to manage and sell accounts to clients. This can be useful if you are looking to start a funnel-building agency, as you can sell accounts and make a 40% profit, while also being able to manage them to charge additional service fees.
This feature is available in the Silver plan and above.
Which Is Best For Your Business?
To make your life easier, I’ve described when it’s best to choose which software below. Take a look to see which is best for you.
Choose Kartra If:
Choose Kartra if you need any of the following features not available in ClickFunnels:
- Video hosting
- Behaviour-Adapted Marketing (BAM)
- Heat maps
- Robust affiliate reporting
- Affiliate marketplace
- Kartra Agency
Or, if you are not looking to go on the $297 per month ClickFunnels. The reason I say this is because ClickFunnels’ $97 per month plan, doesn’t give you access to some of the best features like follow up funnels and affiliate management or the Hack-A-Thons.
With Kartra, you could get access to all the features even on the $99 per month plan, or the $199 plan. The one exception being Kartra Agency on the starter plan.
Another reason to choose Kartra would be that you may just prefer their templates or other aspects compared to ClickFunnels. For example, you might prefer that it’s superior in email marketing or membership sites.
Choose ClickFunnels If:
One reason to choose ClickFunnels would be if you need any of the following features not inside of Kartra:
- FunnelFlix (full only on $297 per month plan)
- Hack-A-Thon (Only on $297 per month plan)
- Bigger community
- Funnel Hacker Forum
Other than that, Kartra can do everything ClickFunnels does too. But, you may just prefer ClickFunnels because of its community size, and that would be a reason to choose ClickFunnels too.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Conclusion
As you have seen throughout this article, Kartra offers a little more than ClickFunnels. There is no debate about that. However, that still doesn’t mean Kartra has to be the right option for you.
ClickFunnels might be better suited for your business, or you may simply prefer it.
But, overall I will have to crown Kartra the winner, as it simply offers more even on the lower plans. Either way, whichever you feel is best for you, you can check it out using one of the links below.
